Join us next February in Edinburg, Texas, at the University of Texas Rio Grande Valley for the 2017 South Central Writing Centers Association Conference. The SCWCA includes writing centers in Arkansas, Louisiana, Oklahoma, and Texas, but all interested stakeholders will be welcomed.
Our keynote speaker will be Dr. Rebecca Hallman Martini, from Salem State University.
This year’s theme, “Writing (Centers/Centered) Institutional Identifications,” invites participants to investigate the various locations of writing centers – disciplinary, theoretical, physical. In doing so, writing center stakeholders are led to consider the structures, funding sources, accesses and accessibilities, and ranges of experiences that contribute to writing centers’ places and spaces within their institutions and local environs. We encourage proposals that make use of the conference theme, although we will welcome proposals on any subject dealing with writing center work.
