The University of Arkansas at Little Rock is a thriving metropolitan university. UALR’s 11,000 students comprise a variety of interests and backgrounds, which gives the university a unique blend of traditional and non-traditional students. Located in Little Rock, the center of the state’s government, business, medicine, and technology sectors, UALR is able to give students hands-on experience in these vital sectors.
University Writing Center
UALR’s University Writing Center (UWC) will celebrate its 25th anniversary in 2006. First organized in 1979 and formally established in 1981, the UWC serves approximately 3,000 students and community members each year. UALR’s unique mix of of traditional, adult, and first generation students from multiple ethnic groups provides a wealth of experiences and opportunities for the UWC. Interns at both the undergraduate and graduate levels receive academic credit for their work with multidisciplinary clients from across the curriculum and in the local community. Housed in a versatile space at the center of the UALR campus, the UWC is open approximately 40 hours a week and does not require appointments.
